Pregnancy & Prenatal Massage Wellington

Safe, side-lying technique — Lambton Quay

$150 · 60 minutes · Second & third trimester

Real relief, properly safe

Pregnancy massage at Glowe Aesthetics is a side-lying treatment designed to ease the parts of your body that carry the weight of pregnancy — lower back, hips, glutes, legs, neck and shoulders. Performed by a therapist trained in prenatal technique, with appropriate support cushions and pregnancy-safe oils throughout.

We see clients from the start of the second trimester through to the days before labour. Booking is straightforward — let us know your trimester when you book so we can prepare the room and adjust the session.

What's Different

How prenatal massage differs

Position — side-lying with pillows under the bump, between the knees, and at the head. Never face-down on the bump or flat on the back for long periods.

Pressure — generally moderate; we avoid deep tissue technique on the legs (a precaution against dislodging anything in clients prone to clots) and stick to flowing, supportive work.

Oils — pregnancy-safe blends only. We avoid essential oils contraindicated in pregnancy (clary sage, rosemary, juniper, peppermint, etc.).

Areas focused — lower back, hips, glutes, calves, feet, neck and shoulders. The bump itself is supported, not worked on.

Pricing

Prenatal Massage

  • Pregnancy / Prenatal Massage (60 min)$150
  • Back & Shoulder (30 min)$64
  • Reflexology Foot Massage$80

If you'd prefer a shorter treatment focused on specific areas, a back-and-shoulder or reflexology foot massage can be a great option — particularly in the third trimester when lying down for an hour is less comfortable.

A note on safety: if your pregnancy is considered high-risk or you have any complications (gestational diabetes, pre-eclampsia, placenta praevia, history of preterm labour), please check with your midwife or obstetrician before booking. We'll happily ring through any questions on your behalf.

Common Questions

Pregnancy Massage FAQs

Is pregnancy massage safe?

Yes, when performed by a trained therapist using side-lying technique with appropriate support cushions. We recommend booking after the 12-week mark (end of first trimester). If you have any pregnancy complications or are considered high-risk, please check with your midwife or obstetrician first.

What position will I be in?

Side-lying, supported by pillows under the bump, between the knees and at the head. We never lie pregnant clients face-down on their stomach or flat on their back for extended periods. The side-lying position is comfortable, safe, and allows full access to the lower back, hips and legs.

How much is pregnancy massage at Glowe?

$150 for a 60-minute prenatal massage at Glowe Aesthetics, Lambton Quay.

How often can I have prenatal massage?

Once a fortnight to once a month is typical. In the final trimester, some clients book weekly for sleep, swelling and lower-back relief. Always let us know your trimester and any recent changes when you book.

When should I tell you I'm pregnant?

At the time of booking, and again when you arrive. We adjust the room setup, oils used (pregnancy-safe only), pressure, and technique accordingly. If you find out you're pregnant after booking a regular massage, just let us know and we'll switch you to the prenatal protocol.
